The Optus Stadium (Perth Stadium, Perth) cricket fans have been offered ticket refunds after the shaded top-tier seats have been decided to move out.

While the second Test of the four-match Test series between Australia and India will begin on this Friday (December 14) at Optus Stadium, Cricket Australia (CA) has recently announced that more than 1,500 ticketholders of shaded top tier will be relocated into like-for-like priced seats elsewhere on the lower levels.

The Sunday Times newspaper recently reported that the level five shaded tier will be closed during the Australia-India Test match due to the ticket sales was lower than expected. The level five-tier is covered by a fabric roof to protect the fans from the sun in summer and rain in winter.

While the warmer weather has been expected during that Test match, fans have been offered free sunscreen for the game.

Recently, Sydney-resident Michelle Ryan has experienced this news and she has been dissatisfied with this sudden recent decision. While she bought the tickets of level five sitting for $105 each in last June, recently she got an email about that relocation news where it was added, “but please don’t worry, we have moved you closer to the action on level one and close to the food and beverage outlets”.

Feeling this move is totally unimpressive, Ryan told according to The Sunday Times, “I am absolutely disgusted with Cricket Australia’s decision. I live in Sydney and follow the Test team around the world. However, due to the lack of shade at the WACA, I have watched Tests in Perth on two occasions.

“Therefore when tickets went on sale for Optus Stadium I deliberately bought tickets on level five. I bought these tickets on June 5, which was the first day they went on sale to Gold Cricket Family Members.

“If I wanted to sit on level one — where they are putting me now — I would have bought them at that time. To say that free sunscreen will solve the problem is ridiculous.”

After making debut in international cricket through the ODI in this January, Optus Stadium is set to organise its first ever Test match during the second Test of the ongoing series between Australia and India.
