Amidst the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Mumbai Indians (MI) spinner Piyush Chawla addressed the controversial reception faced by skipper Hardik Pandya from fans. While acknowledging the lack of control over crowd behaviour, Chawla emphasized Pandya’s resilience amid the adverse atmosphere.
The IPL homecoming for Hardik Pandya, now leading Mumbai Indians, has been marred by unexpected jeers from the crowd. This unwelcome response stemmed from Pandya’s succession as captain from Rohit Sharma, a revered figure in the team’s history with five IPL titles under his leadership.

“Spectator behavior is beyond our control,” PIyush Chawla stated, “but I am hoping that the loyal Mumbai Indians fans will come to Wankhede and support us.”
