However, the lighthearted banter of Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel added a playful touch to Tilak’s fitness post. Leading the Indian T20I side against Australia, Suryakumar jokingly questioned the authenticity of Tilak’s resolution, while Axar joined in, playfully asserting that the video itself was not from the new year but recorded on December 30.

Following an impressive performance in the Indian Premier League, where he amassed 343 runs in 11 matches, Tilak Varma made his debut for India in the ODI and T20I formats in 2023. While he has shown promise in T20s, his ODI numbers raise some concerns.

The upcoming series against Afghanistan and the subsequent IPL will serve as crucial opportunities for Tilak to solidify his position. With several players vying for a spot in the middle order, Tilak needs to elevate his game to secure a place in the T20 World Cup squad. The team management has so far supported the young cricketer, recognizing his potential as a viable sixth bowling option for the national team.
