Recently the ICC Women’s T20I player rankings have been announced where the Indian women cricketers Poonam Yadav and Harmanpreet Kaur climbed up, but Smriti Mandhana fell down. In the meantime, some Bangladeshi women cricketers gained more rating points and climbed upper spots after their successful campaign in 2018 Women’s T20 Asia Cup.
26-year-old Indian leg-spinner Poonam Yadav climbed up two spots as she is now at the third position in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling rankings. Australian right-arm pacer Megan Schutt and New Zealand off-spinner Leigh Kasperek remains on the top two positions in the T20I Bowling rankings.
During the T20 Asia Cup, Poonam picked up seven wickets including her impressive bowling figure of 4-0-9-4 in the final against Bangladesh women. However, her brilliant effort just went in vain as the Bangladesh women won the final by 3 wickets on the very last delivery of the match.
Bangladesh all-rounder Rumana Ahmed, who won the Player of the Match awards in both victorious games against India women for her brilliant all-round performances, climbed up to the 12th position from the previous 18th position in the ICC Women’s T20I All-Rounder rankings.
As a leg-spinner, Rumana also gained points in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling rankings as she climbed up to the 20th spot in that ranking.
Moreover, Bangladeshi off-spinner Khadija Tul Kubra and left-arm spinner Nahida Akter climbed up to the 13th and 22nd positions respectively in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling rankings.
Meanwhile, Indian women’s T20I skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who won the Player of the Tournament award for scoring most runs (215 runs) in the T20 Asia Cup, moved up one place to seventh in the ICC Women’s T20I Batting rankings. Kaur played a fighting half-century knock (56 runs) in the final of T20 Asia Cup.
However, Smriti Mandhana fell down two spots in the ICC Women’s T20I Batting rankings as she finished at the ninth spot.
