Possible Reasons Behind KKR Players Testing Covid-19 Positive

In shocking news, the 39th Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was postponed earlier on Monday. The development comes after KKR players namely Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier have been tested Covid-19 positive.

As per the reports, one of the infected players, Varun Chakravarthy went to the hospital because had some issues with his stomach. KKR spinner might have contracted the virus infection during his hospital visit. Other reports say that Varun went to the hospital for knee scans. However, BCCI hasn’t made has been no confirmation from the BCCI regarding the same.

BCCI confirmed that both players were tested positive in the 3rd round of testing in the last four days. On the other hand, many are confused as to how the players got affected despite being in the bio-bubble. KKR last played against Delhi Capitals on April 29. It remains to be seen whether DC players will also be tested now. Varun Chakravarthy had featured in the playing XI and he must have communicated with players.

BCCI’s press release read: “Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier were found to be positive in the third round of testing in the last four days. All other team members have tested negative for COVID -19. Both the players have isolated themselves from the rest of the squad. The Medical Team is in continuous touch with the duo and is monitoring their health. Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders have now moved towards a daily testing routine to identify any other possible cases and treat them at the earliest.”
