Pragyan reckons that James Anderson and Stuart Broad are more important players than Jofra Archer. The 34-year-old chose Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Jack Leach as his other three impact players.

During a recent chat on Sports Today, Pragyan Ojha said that Anderson and Broad have experience of bowling in the Indian conditions, whereas Archer has just played limited-overs cricket in the subcontinent nation.

Elaborating the same, Pragyan Ojha said, “I picked James Anderson because of the experience, I think they will not be playing together because they will be needing Jofra Archer but I think these two guys are more important. They have the experience of bowling in India in the Test match, red-ball cricket.”

He further added, “Yes. Jofra Archer has played but he has played white-ball cricket. If you talk about red-ball cricket these two guys will be a big threat to our batting line-up.”

Explaining his reason to include spinner Jack Leach in his list of crucial cogs for the visitors for the 1st Test in Chennai, Pragyan said that apart from Rishabh Pant most of India’s top-order batsmen are right-hand players.

Explaining it further, Ojha said, “Apart from Rishabh Pant we mainly have right-handers in our top order and so a left-arm spinner in Jack Leach becomes important. Joe Root, the way he has been batting, he is one of the Fab 4, we always talk about in world cricket.”
