During the fourth Test match of the Ashes series in 2005 at Trent Bridge, in what was the most unexpected way to get out, Australian captain, Ricky Ponting, was run out by substitute fielder Garry Pratt.

Simon Jones’ bowling figures of 14.1-4-44-5 restricted Australia to prevent the follow-on in the first innings. Following on, they were on their road to recovery, at 155/2, when Ponting (48) was run-out. It might sound unfortunate but that is the reality.

In the next over bowled by Andrew Flintoff, Damein Martyn (13) was dismissed by the English all-rounder, further denting Australia’s prospects. Australia ended up losing the match by 3 wickets as England gained a 2-1 lead in the series.
