The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) slumped to their fourth defeat in the ongoing 11th edition of the IPL against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Indore. They lost by a close margin of 15 runs despite KL Rahul’s stellar knock of 95 runs.
During the run-chase of 158 set by the Royals, Kings made the experiment of promoting Ravichandran Ashwin to number three position in the batting lineup. However, the tactic failed as he was dismissed without scoring by Krishnappa Gowtham.

Recently, a news broke out on Mumbai Mirror that Preity Zinta, the co-owner of Punjab, and Virender Sehwag have been involved in an intense verbal altercation surrounding Viru’s tactics to send Ashwin ahead of specialist batsmen like Karun Nair and Manoj Tiwary. Zinta was reported to have hurled accusations at the former Indian batsman.
However, recently, the KXIP co-owner opened her up on Twitter and mentioned the news as a fake one. She has cleared the air surrounding the rumor and mentioned the news as baseless. The Bollywood Diva took to Twitter and clarified the same. Her tweet read: “Mumbai Mirror gets it wrong again because we didn’t do Media net & pay them to write articles cuz that’s the only time they get it right. A conversation between Viru & me has been blown out of proportion & suddenly I’m a Villian ! Wow !”

Punjab is currently placed in the third spot of the IPL 2018 points-table with six wins in ten matches and is on the brink of qualifying for the playoffs. Nevertheless, they will be looking to shed the disappointment of their previous defeat and come back stronger against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at their newly adopted home venue at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
