The Punjab Kings have made a resounding start to IPL 2025, winning both of their opening games and sending a strong message to the rest of the competition. Their dominant performances have not only lifted the morale of the squad but have surely brought smiles to the faces of their fans—and especially to their co-owner, Preity Zinta.

The Bollywood star, known for her unwavering support for the team over the years, made her first appearance of the season during PBKS’ clash against Rajasthan Royals. While she was absent for the first two games—both away fixtures—her presence at the team’s first home match in Mullanpur was no surprise.
Dressed in the team’s colours and flashing her trademark smile, Preity Zinta was visibly thrilled, particularly when Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson cleaned up Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had gotten RR off to a strong start. The wicket was crucial, and Preity’s animated celebration captured just how much it meant.

At the toss, Punjab Kings won and elected to bowl first. Skipper Shreyas Iyer explained that they wanted to assess the pitch early, as it tends to ease out under lights. He emphasized that the team is feeling confident but is also aware of the importance of staying grounded. With familiarity from practice games on this wicket, Iyer believes his team is mentally prepared and ready to execute their plans.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, after losing the toss, expressed readiness to bat first. He admitted it’s still a period of adjustment with a new squad and management, but their last game felt like a perfect performance. RR made a forced change, with Tushar Deshpande sidelined due to a minor injury and Yudhvir Singh taking his place.
With form, momentum, and Preity’s charm on their side, Punjab Kings are certainly shaping up to be one of the teams to watch this season.
