Iyer, who was bought by Punjab Kings for ₹26.75 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction, has justified his hefty price tag with impressive performances so far. In the nine matches played, he has accumulated 288 runs, averaging 48, with a striking strike rate of 182.88. These stats underline his consistency and aggressive approach to batting, which has helped Punjab secure five wins out of nine games.

In her response to a fan’s query about Iyer’s qualities, Preity Zinta expressed her happiness about having him as the team captain.

“Shreyas is a very down-to-earth guy and an amazing captain. Very tactical and aggressive in his approach as a player, but the sweetest and most soft-spoken guy. We are very happy that he is leading Punjab Kings and happier we could get him in the auction as he was our first and only choice for captaincy,” she shared on Monday.

During a recent match between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, a fan asked Preity Zinta about her conversation with Virat Kohli. She revealed that they had been exchanging pictures of their children and reminiscing about the years gone by. “When I first met Virat 18 years ago, he was a spirited teenager buzzing with talent and fire. Today, he still has that fire and is an icon and a very sweet & doting father,” Zinta replied.
