When Royal Challengers Bengaluru hosted Lucknow Super Giants earlier this season, young fast bowler Prince Yadav emerged as one of the few positives for the visitors despite the heavy defeat. RCB comfortably chased down a 149-run target in just 15.1 overs, but Prince impressed with the ball by picking up three of the five wickets that fell.

After the game, Prince had a brief interaction with Virat Kohli, who had played a fluent knock of 49 off 34 balls. During the conversation, Kohli shared valuable advice with the young pacer about maintaining a consistent hard length whenever the ball was moving. Interestingly, Prince later used that exact approach against Kohli himself in the reverse fixture.

In the second meeting between the two teams at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, LSG posted a massive 209/3 in a must-win IPL 2026 clash. The rain-affected encounter was reduced to 19 overs per side, and RCB were given a revised target of 213. Despite a strong effort, Bengaluru finished on 203/6, handing Lucknow a thrilling nine-run victory to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Prince once again starred with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 3/33 from four overs. However, his biggest moment came when he dismissed Kohli for a two-ball duck. The young pacer cleverly set up the wicket by first bowling an outswinger before delivering a sharp inswinger at 140.4 kph that crashed through Kohli’s defence and into the stumps. Even Kohli appeared surprised by the movement.

Speaking after the match, Prince revealed how Kohli’s earlier advice helped him execute the plan perfectly.

“After the last match I was talking to Virat bhaiya and he only told me – till the time it’s (the ball is) moving around off a length, stick to that length. I did that and got the result in the form of his wicket,” Prince Yadav told broadcasters after the match.

The victory kept LSG alive in the playoff race, with the side now preparing for a crucial clash against Chennai Super Kings.
