After witnessing a memorable start to his international career for Team India, the young prodigy Prithvi Shaw will now be featuring in the Vijay Hazare Trophy semifinals for Mumbai. Rohit Sharma — who featured in the quarterfinal clash against Bihar — will be available for the game as well, before joining India’s limited-overs side for the series against the Windies. Mumbai is likely to field all three capped players, and their batting order will probably be the most potent in the semi-finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Mumbai’s chief selector, Ajit Agarkar confirmed the development to Sportstar. Replying to the text message of the publication, Agarkar wrote, “Yes, they will be playing.” On Sunday, Mumbai outplayed Bihar in the quarterfinal to storm into the last-four stage of the tournament — to be held in Bengaluru on Wednesday and Thursday.

Shaw, who was adjudged the Man of the Series in the recently concluded Test series against Windies, had featured in the initial part of the tournament for the domestic giant. Under its coach, Vinayak Samant, Mumbai had a good run in the tournament so far, and with three of its top players available for the crucial match, the side will definitely be strengthened.

The five-match ODI series against West Indies begins on October 21 with the first match scheduled at Guwahati in Assam. Rohit Sharma is named as vice-captain for the first two matches of the series, the squad for which was announced earlier.
