After making his international cricket debut at the age of just 18 years and 329 days, Prithvi Shaw has impressed with his brilliant batting and scored a brilliant century in the ongoing opening day of the first Test of two-match Test series against Windies at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium (Rajkot).
After the Indian skipper Virat Kohli decided to bat first, Shaw came to bat as an opening batsman along with his partner KL Rahul. While Rahul was dismissed in the very first over of the day without opening his innings, the debutant Shaw made no panic and continued his innings.
Shaw put a brilliant 206-run partnership for the second wicket along with Cheteshwar Pujara where the right-handed opening batsman first completed his half-century in 56 balls and then he reached to the century in just 99 balls.
At present, when India is on 214/2, Shaw is batting on 121 runs off 137 balls with 17 fours.

- Also, Prithvi Shaw is the fourth youngest batsman to face the first ball of a Test match.
- On his Test debut, Prithvi Shaw scored a brilliant century. 15th Indian batsman to score a century in the debutant Test match. Also, after Shikhar Dhawan (187), Shaw is only the second Indian opener to score a century in the debutant Test match.
- Prithvi Shaw is the youngest Indian cricketer to score a century on the Test debut. The previous youngest Indian cricketer to score a century on the Test debut was Abbas Ali Baig at the age of 20 years & 126 days (against England at Manchester in 1959).
- Prithvi Shaw also becomes the second youngest Indian cricketer to score the maiden Test century. The record holder is Sachin Tendulkar who had achieved this feat at the age of just 17 years & 107 days.
