The young Indian opener, Prithvi Shaw hasn’t just scored runs against Sri Lanka in the first ODI, he annihilated teh Sri Lankan bowlers. He scored runs at a brisk pace and provided a blistering start to the game. Prithvi Shaw well and truly broke Sri Lanka’s confidence when India was chasing a target of 263 runs. He switched to T20 mode by smashing boundaries at will.

Shaw was adjudged the man of the match for his blistering start and India’s stand-in skipper, Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with an unbeaten 86 including 6 fours and a six. Suryakumar Yadav also played a brilliant knock of an unbeaten 31 off 20 balls including 5 fours. Team India chased down the target in just 36.4 overs and 7 wickets in hand. During the first ODI, India scored 57 runs in the first 5 overs. The start was important to get things going in the early stage of the innings.

Meanwhile, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag posted a story on Instagram which featured himself, Sachin Tendulkar, and Brian Lara. Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw came up with a reply and won the hearts of the fans.
