Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw’s County cricket journey took an unexpected turn as he suffered a knee injury during a Royal London One-Day Cup match against Durham. The Northamptonshire CCC confirmed this development, expressing their regret over losing a match-winner like Shaw.
According to the Steelbacks, Shaw sustained the knee injury while fielding against Durham, and subsequent scans have revealed the injury to be more severe than initially anticipated.

Northants head coach John Sadler conveyed his disappointment, stating, “In his short stint, Prithvi has made a huge impact on us as a club. It’s a huge shame he won’t be with us for the remainder of this comp. He’s an extremely humble young man, he’s very respectful and had been so grateful for the opportunity to represent Northamptonshire.”
Prithvi injured his knee while fielding in the fixture against Durham and subsequent scan results received this morning have revealed the injury is worse than initially expected.

Despite a modest start in the tournament, Shaw emerged as the top run-scorer, leaving a significant mark. He showcased his prowess by smashing a remarkable 244 against Somerset, followed by another century. His unbeaten 125 off 76 balls, including fifteen fours and seven sixes, further solidified his exceptional performance.

The head coach emphasized Shaw’s influence on and off the field, saying, “As well as his performances on the field he had a huge impact in our dressing room. Nobody wanted to win games more than him and he contributed to us doing so. We wish him well and hope to see him scoring runs again soon.”
The release from Northamptonshire also indicated that Shaw is now under the guidance of the BCCI and is scheduled to meet with a specialist in London on Friday to assess the injury further.
