Prithvi Shaw to play for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club

Team India batter Prithvi Shaw is all set to play for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club after the ongoing season of the Duleep Trophy, as per the reports in the Times of India (TOI). However, Prithvi Shaw is playing for the West Zone Squad in the Duleep Trophy 2023 and he will be seen in action when the West Zone will take on the Central Zone in the first semi-final of the tournament as well. The first semi-final is all set to take place from July 5 to July 8 at the KSCA Cricket Ground in Alur as well.

Meanwhile, a TOI journalist took to Twitter to reveal the news of Prithvi Shaw playing for Northamptonshire in county cricket as well. He will represent the Northamptonshire side in county cricket after a stint with the West Zone in Duleep Trophy 2023 as well. However, this is all set to be his maiden stint in county cricket also.

“Prithvi will be playing in four-day County Championship matches and in the Royal London One-Day Cup (50 overs tournament). Before that, he will play in the Duleep Trophy semi-final (against Central Zone), and if necessary, in the final (July 12-16),” a reliable source told TOI.

However, Shaw has played 5 Tests, 6 ODIs, and 1 T20I for India National Cricket Team. He is currently out of the radar for India’s Tests and ODIs squad as well. Even though he earned a recall into the team for T20Is against New Zealand earlier this year, he failed to get a chance to play. And, he last played for India during the Sri Lanka tour in 2021 as well.

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw had a poor show in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Shaw was not even a regular member of the Delhi Capitals (DC) playing XI in the tournament and he was eventually dropped from the side after his back-to-back poor shows as well. He  played only 8 matches and scored 106 runs which came at an average of 13.25 and a strike rate of 124.71. However, he will hope to get his rhythm back soon as well.
