Priyansh Arya has revealed how sharing the crease with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi can make batting considerably easier for his partner, with the teenager’s aggressive approach often forcing opposition bowlers onto the defensive. Arya is currently part of India A’s squad for the three-match one-day series against Australia A. The opening ODI is scheduled to be played on October 6, 2026, at the Cricket Association Puducherry Siechem Ground.

The left-handed batter enters the series in excellent form. He scored 475 runs in IPL 2025 at an impressive strike rate of 179.24 before taking his game to another level in IPL 2026, where he accumulated 364 runs at a strike rate of 211.62. Arya has also previously scored a century against Australia A in List A cricket in 2025.

Reflecting on the players he has shared the dressing room and crease with, Arya said he has learned from Prabhsimran Singh, Abhishek Sharma and Sooryavanshi by closely observing their approach during matches and training.

“The better you perform, the higher you go in the pecking order. I’ve batted with Prabhsimran, Abhishek and Vaibhav, and have learnt something from each of them. I’ve played with all of them at one level or the other, and I always watch them while they’re training. I try to incorporate some of their methods into my game so I can benefit from them. I like their batting style and intent,” Priyansh Arya said, as quoted by NDTV.

Arya and Sooryavanshi have already developed an understanding after batting together during a one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka involving Afghanistan A and Sri Lanka A. The pair added 75 runs against Afghanistan A before producing a 132-run partnership against Sri Lanka A in the final.

For Priyansh Arya, the biggest benefit of batting alongside Sooryavanshi is the pressure the teenager puts on bowlers from the outset. “For instance, I enjoy playing with Vaibhav because he takes pressure off you by scoring big runs. When he bats, the opposition even starts bowling defensively. This makes batting easier for (his partners) as well. There’s great joy in watching Vaibhav bat from the non-striker’s end. I just tell him, ‘If you’re hitting well, just keep hitting’,” Arya explained.

Sooryavanshi has since become a regular part of India’s T20I setup alongside Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, further strengthening his reputation as an explosive young opener.

Among the players Arya has worked with, he shares a particularly strong bond with Prabhsimran Singh. Although the wicketkeeper-batter is yet to make his international debut, his long IPL experience has made him an important source of guidance for younger players.

Priyansh Arya revealed that Prabhsimran regularly helps him understand bowlers and plan his match-ups. “I have the best bond with Prabh bhai. He has been playing in the IPL for the last seven or eight years, and is a lot more experienced than me. He helps me with every little thing, and tells me what each bowler’s strengths are,” Arya added. Their communication also allows them to target different bowling options depending on the situation, giving India A another useful batting combination ahead of the Australia A series.
