Punjab Kings opener Priyansh Arya continued his sensational IPL 2026 form with a breathtaking start against Delhi Capitals at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Monday. The young left-hander immediately grabbed attention by smashing Australian speedster Mitchell Starc for a stunning six off the very first ball of the innings.

Facing one of the world’s premier fast bowlers, Priyansh showed remarkable confidence and fearless intent right from the start. Starc bowled a fuller delivery, shaping away outside off stump, but the PBKS batter leaned across beautifully and carved it over cover-point for a spectacular maximum.

The aggressive opener was far from done. Just three balls later, he punished Starc again, this time flicking him over deep backward square leg for another six in a massive 22-run opening over that completely shifted early momentum towards Punjab Kings.

Priyansh Arya has emerged as one of the breakout stars of IPL 2026 with his ultra-attacking batting approach. Before the ongoing clash against Delhi Capitals, the southpaw had already scored 286 runs in nine innings at a phenomenal strike rate of 242.37, including two explosive half-centuries.

After taking apart Mitchell Starc, Priyansh continued his assault against the rest of the Delhi Capitals attack. He confidently smashed Auqib Nabi and Kagiso Rabada for towering sixes, ensuring PBKS maintained complete control during the powerplay.

At the time of writing, Punjab Kings had raced to 57 without loss in just 3.3 overs, with Priyansh Arya blazing away on 41 off 17 deliveries, while Prabhsimran Singh provided support at the other end with 10 runs off seven balls.

Led by Shreyas Iyer, Punjab Kings entered the match placed fourth on the IPL 2026 points table with six wins from 10 games. A victory against the Delhi Capitals could potentially lift them to the top of the standings despite coming into the contest on the back of three consecutive defeats.

Meanwhile, Axar Patel’s Delhi Capitals were under immense pressure heading into the game after suffering back-to-back losses against the Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders. Another defeat would seriously damage their hopes of reaching the IPL 2026 playoffs.

Interestingly, when these two sides last met earlier this season, Punjab Kings chased down a record 265-run target against Delhi Capitals with seven balls remaining, adding even more intensity to the latest clash.
