“Proud of our team KKR .. after such a shaky start where we looked like we had collapsed ..!.!!!! our boys played strong and hard , and brought it to a close match ..!! Thank you Russell, DK, Pat ..!!! @Russell12A @DineshKarthik @patcummins30 @KKRiders”.

While chasing a target of 221 runs, KKR faced a huge batting collapse in between, which saw them reduced to 31 for 5. Chennai’s Deepak Chahar dismantled KKR’s top order with a four-wicket haul too

Later, Dinesh Karthik slammed 40 off 24 balls, including four fours and two sixes. He was dismissed by Lungi Ngidi. Alongside him,Β Andre Russell hit a half-century (54 in 22 balls), but couldn’t anchor the chase, losing his wicket to Sam Curran as well.

Australia pacer Pat Cummins has smashed an unbeaten knock of 66 runs in 34 balls but failed to get support, with KKR getting bundled out in 19.1 overs, after scoring 202 runs. Cummins also smashed four fours and six sixes in the chase. Meanwhile, the win helped CSK reached the top of the IPL 2021 points table, with six points from four matches. On the other hand, KKR are sixth in the rankings, with only one win from four games as well.

However, after the defeat, Eoin Morgan said: “It’s (pulse) quite high at the moment. What a hell of a game of cricket. Certainly from the position we were in after our powerplay, we probably didn’t think we’d get as close as we did. But Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik really did put a partnership together, once you do that taking advantage of the conditions here, it’s very difficult to stop. A partnership going in that manner and then following that Pat Cummins the way he played really gave us every chance towards the end. Tremendous fight from our middle and lower order which is all you can ask for when you lose wickets upfront like that. The first five overs of our batting didn’t go our way. We didn’t play as well as would have liked. If we had built a partnership and taken advantage of those early overs going into those middle overs, we would have been in a really strong position.”
