India will be hoping that one of their fiery pacers, Mohammed Siraj recovers soon from the injury he picked up on Day 1 of the ongoing second Test at the Wanderers. Siraj had to pull out in his run-up right before delivering the last ball of his fourth over and it wasn’t ideal scenes for the pacer. He showed signs of a hamstring injury and immediately was taken off the field.

Mohammed Siraj was splendid in the first Test and was seen bowling some accurate line and lengths in the game until he clutched his hamstring. Bumrah similarly suffered an ankle niggle in the previous Test but he did come back and bowl after leaving the field. The same will be expected from Mohammed Siraj unless there isn’t any major injury as R Ashwin provided an update on him at the end of the first day’s play.

R Ashwin mentioned that the medical team has been working hard on Mohammed Siraj and hoped he comes out again to bowl. He also noted the usual measures that will be taken during these injuries while speaking in the press conference. If Siraj does not come out to bowl on Day 2, then the bulk of the bowling will have to be done by R Ashwin as well.

Explaining the same, R Ashwin said, “So I asked Anand before going into the press conference whether I can talk about it and he said I can. The medical staff are assessing him overnight and obviously, I think, it’s very immediate so initially what they do with these injuries is they just ice and see it for the next hour or two. I am hoping with the history that Siraj has, he’ll definitely come out and give his best.”
