Team India registered a dominating victory against the Windies as they won by an innings and 272 runs. This is the biggest Test victory for the Indian team in the history of the game. They surpassed the previous record of winning the game by an innings and 262 runs against Afghanistan earlier this year. With a win in Rajkot, Team India has extended its unbeaten runs to eight Tests at home. But just after the triumph, Ravichandran Ashwin sparked a slight controversy.
The premier off-spinner expressed his disappointment over the quality of the SG ball right after the game ended. He noted that the SG ball used to be top-notch, but in recent times, the quality of the balls has been downgraded significantly. He didn’t look satisfied with the seam not standing up for a long time. Further, the fastest man to take 300 Test wickets said that the Kookaburra red ball was a lot better.

After the conclusion of the match, Ashwin said, “The Kookaburra white ball doesn’t swing much nowadays and you can’t feel the seam much as well. Right now I would say Kookaburra red ball is a lot better ball, Dukes is also right up there. Pretty disappointed with the current SG ball. It used to be top-notch, the seam used to stand up strong even after 70-80 overs. Not the same anymore.”
However, the Indian spinners have done a great job in the team by picking up 16 wickets of the 20. While Ashwin picked four wickets in the first innings, he followed it up by picking two in the second. Ravindra Jadeja, the other spinner in the side picked up four wickets in the match.
The left-arm chinaman, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers in the second innings as he picked his maiden five-wicket haul, despite the fact that he picked just one in the first innings.
