Former India spinner R Ashwin urged the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team management to add Tim Seifert to the playing XI for the upcoming IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as well. The match will take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday, April 14 as well. However, KKR signed Seifert for ₹1.50 crore at the IPL 2026 mini-auction.

He said in his YouTube video ahead of the game: “I know Rovman Powell batted decently in the last game, but I would really think Ajinkya Rahane and the team management should give it a serious thought of playing Tim Seifert. He recently played a match in Chennai, and he has got a wider range of game. Finn Allen is one of those players who will keep on hitting once he gets going, but Seifert has got a few more gears.”

R Ashwin also feels KKR should make two other changes apart from bringing in Tim Seifert as well. He stated that the three-time champions must accommodate uncapped Indian batter, Tejasvi Dahiya, and Sri Lankan pace bowler Matheesha Pathirana as well.

“They have to give it a little bit of thought around Tim Seifert, Tejasvi Dahiya, and Matheesha Pathirana. If they fit these three in the team combination, then KKR have a very, very good chance of going pretty tight, but otherwise, CSK are favorites to win this game,” R Ashwin concluded.
