Delhi Capitals (DC) suffered a 3-wicket loss against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 41st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 in Sharjah. After winning the toss, the KKR skipper, Eoin Morgan asked DC to bat and KKR’s bowlers delivered by restricting DC to 127/9 in their quota of 20 over and KKR chased it down with 10 balls to spare. However, an eye-catching moment took place in the last over of the first innings when the DC spinner, R Ashwin was seen having heated conversations with KKR pacer, Tim Southee and Morgan.

R Ashwin had a heated conversation with Eoin Morgan

On the first delivery of the final over bowled by Tim Southee, R Ashwin came down the track and decided to smack the ball for a six with a pull shot. The ball went up in the air and eventually, the catch was taken at the deep backward square by Nitish Rana. When R Ashwin was walking back to the crease, he and Southee seemed to have some words being exchanged.

While Southee was the first to have a word with Ashwin, it led to Morgan getting involved. The KKR captain and Ashwin too had a heated conversation ill finally Dinesh Karthik, who hails from a similar state to that of R Ashwin, intervened and took R Ashwin away from the scene.

The reason for the tiff might have been something about the last ball of the previous over where they stole a run after the ball turned the other way after getting deflected from Pant’s gloves. However, fans still want to know the real reason behind the banter and started tweeting about the same.

After the incident, some of the people from the cricketing fraternity added that R Ashwin acted against the spirit of the game. However, Ashwin has finally broken the silence on the matter and has come forward with his side of the story. While taking the matter to his official Twitter, he wrote, “1. I turned to run the moment I saw the fielder throw and dint know the ball had hit Rishabh. 2. Will I run if I see it!? Of course, I will and I am allowed to.”

No, I stood up for myself and that’s what my teachers and parents taught me to do and pls teach your children to stand up for themselves. In Morgan or Southee’s world of cricket they can choose and stick to what they believe is right or wrong but do not have the.”
