India’s premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is currently enjoying his stint in English County Championships. He is Playing for Worcestershire in Division Two of the County tournament, Ashwin has already proven his worth with an all-around performance.
In the ongoing match between Worcestershire and Durham, Ashwin scored crucial 82 runs proving he is capable of batting in the top 6 anywhere. Before getting dismissed, he was looking good for his first county century but unfortunate for him, Ashwin was given leg before on the front foot to Liam Trevaskis.
Not just with the bat, he was lethal with the ball as well. Before Durham closed at 142-5 on day 2. Ashwin removed the Durham skipper Paul Collingwood with a fierce delivery.
Collingwood was bowled, attempting to cut a short ball from Ashwin in the 33rd over. The ball was pitched outside off stump in the good length area which left Collingwood guessing. Though it was not ideal length to play a cut shot but wasn’t the ball to avoid as well.
The veteran England cricketer got late to read the delivery and gave away his wicket as the ball turned square from outside the off-stump and disturbed the leg stump.
Recently, Ashwin was also elected as the Player of the Week in one of the fan polls conducted by the official account of the County cricket on Twitter.
