The veteran Indian offspinner, Ravichandran Ashwin has been now been out of consideration for the selection in India’s limited-overs’ squads and hence, the chances of his getting to play ICC World Cup 2019 has already been demeaned. He has been replaced by the wrist-spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal who are doing the job for the country.

Ashwin, who last played an ODI against West Indies in 2017, is not too concerned about selection but is looking forward to the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 where he will lead Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).

Recently, talking to Sportstar about the same, Ashwin said, “I am not bothered about it [selection]. It is important to get better as a cricketer every day. I am getting better, and I am working on what I need to. I am not worried about anything else.”

Ashwin is excited playing with the likes of a spin-heavy contingent which includes Afghanistan offspinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who was retained from the last edition and two more additions — Tamil Nadu leggies Murugan Ashwin and Varun Chakravarthy — who is IPL’s latest millionaire, bought for ₹8.40 crore.

The KXIP skipper, further elaborated, “I am very excited about the fact that there are a couple of good spinners in my team. I am quite excited to have them. I have seen M. Ashwin very closely, he also plays in my league side in TNCA. I know Varun did well in the TNPL. It [their selection] covers one facet of the department concerning spin. It is something I can watch closely and mentor. I am looking forward to learning a few things from Varun. IPL is a great opportunity. I really want to enjoy myself and excel in it.”
