In the ongoing fourth ODI between South Africa and India at Johannesburg, Kagiso Rabada drew first blood as he dismissed Rohit Sharma for the sixth time on this tour. On the last delivery of the fourth over, Rabada dismissed Sharma on 5 as his hard defense was caught by the bowler in what was an impressive catch.
Since the start of this series, Sharma has been short of runs. He is averaging 10 in this series, the lowest since 2013 when he started opening in India.
Before boarding the plane for South Africa, Sharma had scored his second T20I century, 118 (43), against Sri Lanka at Indore. In eight innings against South Africa in South Africa, he scored the same amount of runs, which shows a lot about his dip in form.
As has been the story of the ODI series so far, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli did not let Sharma’s dismissal affect the batting line-up.
