In a match that had just about everything — fireworks with the bat, a record-breaking century, and even an unexpected injury — the clash between Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings at Mullanpur turned out to be a rollercoaster. But it wasn’t just the players who found themselves in the heat of battle.

During Chennai’s chase of a mammoth 219, one of Punjab Kings’ cheerleaders ended up injured in a freak incident involving a Rachin Ravindra boundary. On the second ball of the sixth over, Marco Jansen delivered a short ball outside off, and Ravindra, in complete control, pounced on it. The left-hander pulled with elegance and authority, piercing the gap between square leg and midwicket.

The ball rocketed over the ropes with one bounce — but unfortunately, as it cleared the boundary, it struck a cheerleader on her hand. She immediately clutched her wrist in pain, tears in her eyes, as the cameras captured the shocking moment. Social media, as always, erupted — not just in sympathy, but also highlighting the sheer power behind Ravindra’s shot.

Before this dramatic moment, the star of the first innings was undoubtedly Priyansh Arya. The young Delhi batter played the innings of his life, smashing the fastest-ever century by an uncapped player in IPL history — a breathtaking 103 off just 39 deliveries. Arya’s knock was full of audacious stroke play, power, and poise, and it now stands as the second-fastest ton by an Indian in IPL history, just behind Yusuf Pathan’s iconic 37-ball century in 2010.

Despite early wickets tumbling around him, Arya stood tall. Dropped early in his innings, he made Punjab pay dearly, clearing the ropes with ease and finding boundaries at will. Supported later by Marco Jansen and Shashank Singh, who stitched a crucial 65-run partnership, Punjab posted a commanding total of 219/6.

For CSK, the outing was frustratingly inconsistent. While they took three wickets during the powerplay, they also conceded 75 runs in that same phase. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s captaincy drew criticism for lacking aggression, and CSK’s sloppy fielding made matters worse. As the match headed into the second innings, the onus was once again on their batting unit to pull off something remarkable — in a tournament where miracles are always possible.
