India’s women’s team pulled off a domnating win over hosts England at the County Ground, Derby on Tuesday, 13th of September, to draw level in the three-match T20I series. The Women in Blue won the game by a comprehensive margin of 8 wickets to set up a thrilling series finale in Bristol on Thursday. The visitors dominated the English team in all aspects of the game, and the brilliant diving catch from Radha Yadav in the first innings is a testament to that.
England won the toss and batted first in the match with hopes of sealing the three-match series after a comprehensive nine-wicket win in the series opener. But Harmanpreet Kaur’s side managed to forget about the disappointing loss in the previous game behind them, dismissing the English openers cheaply inside the powerplay.

After losing three quick wickets at the early stage of the innings, England were struggling to score runs, however, Bryony Smith and Amy Jones steadied the ship. But just when things were looking bright for the hosts, Radha Yadav pulled off a stunning catch to put a halt to the budding partnership in the eighth over. One of the best fielders in the side, Yadav sprinted from long on to pocket a ridiculous catch to get rid of Bryony Smith.

Earlier in the game, Radha showed great game awareness as after saving the boundary, she quickly threw the ball to skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who passed it to wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh. England’s Alice Capsey had no idea about the quick release as she was trying to sneak a third run and eventually got stranded in the middle of the pitch.

Notably, Radha Yadav, walked off the field in the previous game after she suffered a minor injury. She was in doubt for this game after diving in the series opener to stop the ball while injuring herself. The Indian skipper had criticized the damp conditions in the previous encounter, which played a part in the injury to one of her best outfielders.
Coming to the match, India managed to restrict the hosts to a below-par total of 142/6 in their 20 overs on the back of Sneh Rana’s marvelous bowling spell of 3/24.

The visitors, in contrast to their opponents, came out all gun blazing in pursuit of the target as Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana took advantage of the field restrictions. The latter went on to compile a scintillating unbeaten 79 off just 53 deliveries, prolonging her tremendous form in the shortest format of the game as India got home in a canter with more than three overs to spare.
