One of the demanding task of modern-day cricket is restricting an on-song Brendon McCullum. The 35-year old Kiwi veteran was in the mood today. With the bat in hand and form on his side, he can demolish the best of attacks at will. Today was one such day.

Chasing 172, Gujarat Lions were on a rampage led by McCullum and Dwayne Smith. At the halfway mark, Lions had scored 96 with the loss of Dwayne Smith. On the fourth ball of the 11th over, Ben Stokes bowled a fuller delivery to McCullum. In what was a certain ‘Dilshan’ from McCullum, his scoop was on the way to a six.

Out of nowhere, Rahul Chahar, who was fielding at third man, ran in quick to his left. Jumped. Leaped. Caught the ball. The effort was not just limited to this. Just when Chahar realized that he has crossed the boundary line (whilst in the air), he threw the ball back into the playing area. What looked like a definite six was restricted to a couple of runs. To display such levels of maturity from a 17-year old was enthralling as well impressive to see. Watch the full video:

After making an impact with his fielding, Chahar made a point with the ball in hand as well. In the following over, Steven Smith brought him back into the attack for his second over. He got rid of McCullum on the first ball. McCullum gave the teenager the charge, to which he smartly reduced the length, not just beating McCullum but getting him stumped at the hands of MS Dhoni. The wicket following the fielding effort would have given Chahar a hell lot of confidence. Watch the full video:
