The sports fans in India aren’t familiar with using the two big names of Rahul Dravid and Lionel Messi in a single sentence. While being the top personalities of cricket and football respectively. They enjoy the fan following all over the world whenever they make news.
So when the time did come to talk about the two athletes in one breath, fans of sports as a whole did not lack in enthusiasm. Recently, Dravid as spotted enjoying a game of football at Barcelona F.C.’s home ground of Camp Nou on Sunday. He has always been known to express his affection for the game and he got to live a lifelong dream of watching the Spanish giants play live at one of the most popular stadiums in the world.
During an interview, former Indian skipper shared his experience of watching the game live, he said, “It’s incredible, it’s a huge honor, it’s one of the things I’ve always wanted to do, come to Camp Nou and watch a football game. To be here and experience the atmosphere, it’s absolutely electric.”

As the men in red and blue went on to defeat Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid in a La Liga matchup by 2-0 with the help of Luis Suarez and Argentine legend Lionel Messi’s back to back goals in the 85th and 86th minutes respectively, Dravid was surprised by the two top-tier players and their skills.

The legendary batsman further elaborated, “To be able to watch players like Messi and Suarez play live, it’s fantastic for me and my family.

Unlike any casual fan of football, Dravid had the eye for the ‘off-the-ball’ movement of Messi and did not hold back on commenting on that. He said, “He’s an absolute genius. It’s incredible to watch what he does and to watch him live… One thing to see with Messi is how fantastic he is with the ball but it is incredible to see how good he is without the ball and how he is able to find spaces.”
