Indian men’s cricket team head coach, Rahul Dravid, was recently seen at the SDNRW Ground in Mysuru, attending the Cooch Behar U-16 Trophy match between Karnataka and Uttarakhand alongside his wife, Vijeta. Samit Dravid initially caught the spotlight with a remarkable innings of 150 in a Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) BTR Under-14 tournament back in 2018. Recently, he was selected to represent Karnataka in the 2023 Vinoo Mankad Trophy. However, his performance in the tournament was not as stellar, managing only 122 runs from four innings, with one half-century.

During the Cooch Behar U-16 Trophy match against Mumbai, Samit played a notable innings, scoring 87 off 95 balls, featuring ten fours. Unfortunately, despite his efforts, Karnataka lost the match by 46 runs, failing to chase down the target of 346 within the allotted 50 overs.

Samit also showcased his bowling skills by taking 2/59 in ten overs during the same game. Rahul Dravid’s younger son, Anvay, is also deeply involved in cricket and leads the U14 cricket team of Karnataka.

In the realm of coaching, Rahul Dravid’s contract as the head coach of the Indian team was recently extended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Dravid took on the role in 2021 after India’s early exit from the T20 World Cup.

While the national team faced setbacks in major tournaments under his tenure, including the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final loss and finals defeats in the 2023 World Test Championship and ODI World Cup, Dravid’s coaching has contributed to India’s consistent performance across all three formats, elevating them to the top of the rankings.
