Former Indian skipper, Rahul Dravid reckons that the Indian team under Virat Kohli will “peak during next few months” as they go into the ICC World Cup 2019 in England as one of the tournament favorites. India has now won three away ODI series in South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand and is considered by many as the team to beat at the global event which begins on May 30 in England.
Talking to the reporters on Thursday, after India A clinched the one-day series against England Lions by the 4-1 margin, Dravid said, “I think India are playing very good cricket at the moment and go in as one of the favorites. Hopefully, we will peak in the next few months.”

Dravid, who was the top scorer (461 runs) in the 1999 World Cup held in England, feels that there should not be any comparison between the two editions as conditions will be very different.
The legendary cricketer further explained, “Wickets will be very flat in England and I expect it to be quite a high-scoring World Cup. When we were in England with A team, 300 was regularly scored. A lot more runs will be scored compared to the 1999 World Cup, where we used the Dukes white ball. The white Kookaburra with two new balls, revised field restrictions (different Powerplays) are different, so you can’t compare the two World Cups.”
Currently, the Indian team is having a 3-1 lead in the ongoing 5-match series against New Zealand as they won the first three ODIs before drastically losing the fourth ODI. They must be looking to make a comeback in the final ODI to clinch the series 4-1. The fifth and the final ODI is scheduled to commence on Sunday, at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington.
