From MS Dhoni to Mohammad Azharuddin and Mithali Raj, the lives of Indian cricketers have been quite the trend on the silver screen. Through these films, the lives of such sports legends have been an inspiration to many. Now, it seems the focus is on another cricketing icon—former India captain Rahul Dravid. This happens days after T-Series announced a biopic on legendary Yuvraj Singh. With Yuvraj’s story coming to the silver screen, fans and the media have now started asking whether Dravid’s life and career are going to receive a filmic treatment.

While receiving an award, Rahul Dravid was asked who would play his role in case there happened to be a biopic on him. True to his suave and slightly witty demeanor, he replied, “If the money is good enough, I will play the role,” at the CEAT Cricket Rating awards, which definitely broke the audience up.

Rahul Dravid’s cricket journey—right from an aspiring cricketer to becoming a head coach of the Indian cricket team—is nothing less than remarkable. Under his leadership, some of the recent successes that India has had include guiding the Men in Blue to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup. As he looked back on his coaching stint, Dravid spoke about India’s campaign during the 2023 ODI World Cup, where the team remained unbeaten until that final and eventually fell short against Australia.

“To travel across the country and see the passion of the fans up close, I think it was incredible. As a player, I never partook in a World Cup that was held in India, but as a coach, it was phenomenal to see what this game means for the people of this country,” Rahul Dravid shared while recounting that journey.

Though he acknowledged the heartbreak of the final loss, Rahul Dravid couldn’t help but graciously praise the Australian team. “We ran a phenomenal campaign, but Australia played better cricket on the day. That’s the nature of sport, and we congratulate them,” he concluded with the sportsmanship that defined his playing career.
