India is currently locking horns with Sri Lanka in the opening fixture of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in Mohali, it is also the 100th Test of the career of former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, who has become the 12th Indian cricket to reach the landmark. The Indian players who have played 100 Test matches include Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, and Virender Sehwag.
Several former cricketers have come forward and congratulated Virat Kohli for reaching the landmark. However, he also has the chance of becoming the first Indian cricketer, to score a century in his 100th Test. He will also join the elite list of batters who have done so in the past and will be the 10th batsman overall.

The Delhi-based cricketer has amassed 7962 runs in 99 Tests with an average of 50.39. This series will be the first for Rohit Sharma as the Indian Test captain. He will look to have a winning start to his leadership and the team are favorites going into the series.
India head coach Rahul Dravid felicitated Kohli presenting him a special cap for 100th Test. Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma was also present during the felicitation ceremony. Dravid delivered a fantastic speech on the occasion saying that Kohli is a testament to everything great in the game.

During the ceremony, Rahul Dravid said, “It’s a testament to everything that is great in our sport… sweat, discipline, courage, skill, determination, desire, focus, you had it all. You had a great journey. You can be very proud of not only playing the 100th Test match but also for the great journey that you have navigated through. Congratulations to you and your family on this fantastic achievement. It’s well deserved, well earned, and hopefully, it is just the start of many things to come. Virat Kohli expressed his joy on receiving the cap and said that it is a special moment for him.
The former Indian skipper said, “It is a special moment for me. My wife is here and so is my brother. Everyone is very proud. It is indeed a team game and it couldn’t have been possible without you. Thanks to the BCCI as well. In present-day cricket, with the amount we play with three formats and an IPL, the one takeaway the next generation can take from me is that I played 100 games in the purest format.”
