Veteran India batsman Rahul Dravid has been with the second-string Indian team as the head coach which is currently in Sri Lanka for the upcoming limited-overs series. Like a legendary batsman, he is a successful coach too. Earlier he has tasted success with the India A and India U19 team that won the U-19 World Cup under the leadership of Prithvi Shaw.

However, Rahul Dravid was appointed the NCA head as well and he emerged successful in every way. Meanwhile, in the regular head coach of India Ravi Shastri as well as the main team, considering their commitment in England, the BCCI had decided to hand over the reins to Dravid for the Sri Lanka series. Shikhar Dhawan will lead the team in the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as well.

Meanwhile, the team has started their practice recently after being in quarantine for 18 days. And, the head coach has shared his views on their first practice session.
“It has been nearly 17-18 days that we have been in some sort of quarantine. Really good for the boys to get out and just get moving a little bit. A nice little area in front of the lawn before we practice tomorrow, we have an open space,” said Rahul Dravid in a video posted on the website of BCCI on Saturday.

However, players had a different kind of practice session as they had some physical drills instead of hitting the nets directly. Meanwhile, the team has a few new faces as well and they could be seen jogging, stretching and playing a game of footvolley before their pool session under the watchful eyes of Rahul Dravid. India are scheduled to play three ODIs, starting on July 13, followed by three T20Is at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo as well.
While talking about that, speedster Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who will be the deputy of Shikhar Dhawan, said: “Everyone was excited to come out, fun activities are happening. Everyone is enjoying it, this is the first day that we have gotten out and it is important that team bonding happens.”
