Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar is certain that the newly appointed head coach of Team India Rahul Dravid will have a good impact on the players. Gavaskar believes Dravid will bring the same kind of stability as the coach as he did with the bat.
Rahul Dravid has succeeded Ravi Shastri, whose tenure ended at the end of the T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE, where Team India saw an early exit from the Super 12 round. Shastri did well as the head coach from 2017 to 2021.

Dravid will see New Zealand in his first assignment when India will lock horns in a three-match T20I series, starting from Wednesday.
“When he used to play, we used to think that till Rahul Dravid is at the crease, the Indian batting is safe and strong,” Gavaskar said on the Star Sports show ‘Follow the Blue.’
“This is the reason why I believe that the new responsibility of head coach falls upon him. He will be able to handle it in a similar way.”

Highlighting the similarities between Rohit Sharma, who took over as T20 skipper from Virat Kohli, and Dravid, Gavaskar said the two men will work well together easily.
“If you look at both of their temperaments, they are quite similar. Rohit is of a quiet nature just like Rahul Dravid. So, I think their bond will be quite good because both of them will understand each other well,” Gavaskar said.
Several senior players are rested for this T20I series and the star performers of the IPL 2021 got their maiden callup. Virat Kohli will miss the first Test match of the two-match series before returning to captain the side in the second Test match of the series.
