The inaugural ODI of the 5-match ODI series between India and Australia is scheduled to take place on September 17 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
However, the current weather predictions of Chennai show that there are chances of some of the Indian Meteorological Department is to be believed, there could be thundershowers in the afternoon or towards the evening.
On the Indian Meteorological Department’s website, it is clearly mentioned that Chennai will have some rain on September 17th.
The remaining ODIs of the 5-match series will be played in Kolkata, Indore, Bengaluru, and Nagpur. Apart from Kolkata, where it may rain anytime of the year, it can be expected that chances of rains will be less in the last 3 ODIs.
Australian team can be a bigger threat for Team India irrespective of the fact that India is playing at home. IPL has given a lot of experience of playing in Indian conditions and many Australian players are well aware of the Indian sub-continent conditions pretty well.
Given the fact that there is no reserve day for matches, if it rains in Chennai, the match will be termed as abandoned. Hopefully, the ground staff will ensure that the game does not get washed-out but more importantly, it will be rain gods who would have the last call.
