Rajat Patidar showcased his aggressive batting prowess on Sunday in the IPL 2024 clash between RCB and KKR at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Facing a challenging target of 224 runs, the stylish Indian batsman dominated Suyash Sharma’s over, plundering 22 runs effortlessly. RCB arrived at Eden Gardens with a monumental task, relying on Patidar to keep them in the game.

True to expectations, Patidar delivered, smashing a boundary, followed by two sixes, and another boundary in a single over against Suyash Sharma. Amidst the onslaught, he also managed to take a couple of runs, setting the over ablaze with his aggressive stroke play. Virat Kohli, who had earlier fallen victim to a contentious dismissal, found solace in Patidar’s explosive batting display against Suyash.

 

Eventually, RCB lost teh game by just 1 runs, as they required 21 runs in the last over to secure victory. Dinesh Karthik failed to do much as he was dismissed in the 19th over, but surprisingly, Karan Sharma smashed three sixes in the last over off Mitchell Starc but perished soon after.

Shreyas Iyer’s pivotal innings bolstered KKR’s total as he crafted a well-earned half-century, adding 50 runs from 36 balls to the scoreboard. Alongside, Ramandeep Singh’s fiery cameo of 24 runs from just 9 balls propelled KKR to a commanding total of 222 runs. Contributions from Phil Salt (48) and Rinku Singh (27) also played vital roles in establishing KKR’s imposing score.

Despite the early dismissals of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, RCB amassed 74 runs during the powerplay overs. Rajat Patidar and Will Jacks assumed responsibility to anchor RCB’s chase, both falling just short of individual fifties.
