Patidar had a reprieve when he was caught off a no-ball when he had just surpassed the 50-run mark. Patidar curbed his aggression and played a stellar role in his 60-run stand with captain Aditya Shrivastava. Patidar was also the third centurion for Madhya Pradesh in the first innings of the Ranji Trophy final as Yash Dubey (133) and Shubham Sharma (116) helped them come up with a strong reply to Mumbai’s total. It was the 8th first-class century for Patidar in the 42nd match.

Rajat Patidar resumed on his overnight score of 67 and started Day 4 proceedings with a superbly-timed flick against Mohit Avasthi. Patidar kept on maintaining a brisk strike rate even as he was losing partners in quick succession in the morning session on Saturday. Patidar’s knock was crucial to Madhya Pradesh as they sealed a potentially match-winning first-innings lead, going past Mumbai’s tally of 374 on Day 4 morning.

Rajat Patidar managed to also achieve a special double as the Madhya Pradesh batter hit a hundred in the Ranji Trophy final, a month after scoring a hundred in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Eliminator for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Patidar had played a match-winning knock of 112 in just 54 balls as RCB was able to knock out Lucknow and progress to the Qualifier 2.

Patidar hit a fifty in Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan but it was not enough for RCB to progress to the final. Patidar played crucial knocks in the knockouts for Madhya Pradesh as he scored a quickfire knock of 85 against Punjab in the quarter-final and followed it up with a crucial 79 in the semi-final against Bengal.
