In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bat first on a flat wicket in Hyderabad. Despite losing 2 wickets in the first 7 overs, RCB’s middle order batter, Rajat Patidar went berserk in the 11 overs bowled by Mayank Markanade by smashing 4 consecutive sixes in the over.

Earlier in the game, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli came out to open the innings but after scoring 43 runs in the first 3 overs, Faf was dismissed by T Natarajan in the 4th over and it slowed the run rate. As a result, Will Jacks, who came out to bat at no.3, lost his wicket in the 7th over of Mayank Markande.

Rajat Patidar came out to bat after the dismissal of Jacks and he started to increase the run rate as they reached 94/2 in 10 overs. However, in the 11th over, Patidar decided to go all guns blazing as he ticked Mayanak Markade for 4 huge sixes and maintained his reputation of a spin basher, but he soon perished in the 13th over bowled by Jayadev Unadkat.

The explosive right-handed batsman blazed through the innings, reaching his fifty in a mere 19 balls. His onslaught was highlighted by a breathtaking assault on Mayank Markande, smashing him for four consecutive sixes in the 11th over. With Virat Kohli rotating the strike, Rajat Patidar unleashed his fury, dispatching Markande to all corners of the ground. This feat earned Patidar a place among the fastest 50s for RCB in IPL history, sharing the record with cricketing luminaries like Chris Gayle and Robin Uthappa.
