The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla has said the board respects Virat Kohli’s decision of leaving the T20I captaincy. He mentions it is Kohli’s personal decision to leave the captaincy after the T20 World Cup 2021.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli announced, on Thursday, that he will step down from the captaincy of the T20I team after the completion of the T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE and Oman, scheduled to take place from October 17 to November 14.

Meanwhile, Kohli mentioned he will continue to lead the Indian team in Test cricket as well as One-Day International cricket. He took the decision after considering his workload for the past 8-9 years.
Rajeev Shukla praised Kohli for his contribution to the Indian T20I team.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah also praised Kohli for his contribution.

The upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 will be Kohli’s last assignment as the captain of the T20I squad. Kohli hasn’t won a single ICC tournament under his captaincy and he will be trying to give his all to win his first major tournament.
Meanwhile, Kohli will be seen leading Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second leg of the IPL 2021 in the UAE.
Team India will kick off their campaign against Pakistan on October 24 in Dubai.
