Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has been one of the most entertaining editions so far as the fans have witnessed quite a few nail-biting finishes and extraordinary performances. While players are amusing the fans with their performances on the field, the social media handles of the various franchises have often been seen taking a dig at each other. However, Rajiv Shukla, the former Chairman of IPL seems to be unhappy with the recent banter between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and called it “not appropriate for the spirit of the game”.
It all started with RR posting a funny tweet after their team registered a thrashing win over SRH. They came up with a tweet ordering ‘a large Hyderabadi Biryani’. However, as SRH managed to register a dominating win over RR in Dubai, the orange army came up with a hilarious tweet to cancel RR’s order.
Cancel the biryani order our friends can't handle the level of spice 🙂

The banter soon became the talk of the town within minutes and several netizens liked it but Rajeev Shukla didn’t like the whole idea and shared his point of view on the same. Quoting SRH’s tweet, Rajiv wrote: “Haha for being witty it’s fine but in my view, these kind of tweets from both the sides are not appropriate for the spirit of the game.”

It was a do-or0die game for both the teams SRH and RR and had lost 6 matches in the tournament, one more loss meant almost an exit from the tournament. After inviting RR to bat first, SRH grabbed control of the game from the first ball and didn’t allow the Royals to score freely. The pressure and an out of form batting order led RR to score only 154 in their 20 overs.

However, while chasing the same, SRH failed to get the much0needed start as they lost a couple of wickets and a fast and furious Jofra Archer was looking unplayable. As the target was modest, Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar constructed a solid foundation which grew into a match-winning partnership.

SRH managed to chase down the total rather comfortably with Manish Pandey winning the Player of the Match award for his flamboyant fifty. With this win, SRH has kept their playoffs hopes alive and RR’s qualification now depends on other results apart from winning their last 3 games.
