Former Pakistan pacer Rana Naved-ul-Hasan has revealed that he had a verbal spat with former India opener Virender Sehwag during their playing days. Rana also said that he found Sehwag to be the easiest batsman to dismiss in the Indian team. Rana recalled the 2005 six-match ODI series which was played in India and Pakistan won by 4-2. He said that he told Sehwag that if he was from Pakistan, he would not have been able to make it to international cricket.

“There was a match where Sehwag was playing well,” Rana Naved ul Hasan said. “I was the player of the tournament. The series was such that we were trailing 2-0. It was a best-five [six] series. In one of the games, Sehwag was hitting big. They almost scored 300. I asked Inzy bhai to give me the ball. I bowled a slow bouncer.”

“I went up to him and said ‘You don’t know how to play. Had you been in Pakistan, I don’t think you would have ever made it to the international team.’ He said a few things back to me. On my way back I told Inzi bhai… ‘Next ball, he is getting out.’ He was surprised. I bowled a back-of-the-hand slower ball, and an infuriated Sehwag tried to hit it big but holed out. The wicket was so important that we won that match. These are certain tricks of the fast bowler.”

Rana Naved ul Hasan also said that he found Rahul Dravid to be the most difficult batsman to bowl at in the Indian team.

“Sehwag was the easiest to dismiss and the most difficult to bowl at was Rahul Dravid,” Rana Naved ul Hasan said. “He was a very good player of fast bowling. He used to leave the ball very well and he had a very good defense. It was very difficult to get him out.”
