Afghanistan’s spin wizard Rashid Khan has etched his name in cricketing history by equaling Dwayne Bravo’s world record for the most wickets in T20 cricket. The 26-year-old achieved this remarkable feat on Friday, January 31, during MI Cape Town’s SA20 match against Pretoria Capitals at SuperSport Park in Centurion. Rashid’s milestone moment came in two key dismissals—first, he clean-bowled Pretoria Capitals captain Kyle Verreynne in the 11th over, and then, in the 15th over, he shattered Marques Ackerman’s stumps to match Bravo’s record.

Bravo, the West Indian all-rounder, retired last year after an 18-year T20 career with 631 wickets in 582 matches. Rashid, playing significantly fewer games, now boasts the same tally in just 460 matches, underlining his dominance in the shortest format. Since making his T20 debut on October 26, 2015, against Zimbabwe, Rashid has evolved into one of the most feared bowlers across global T20 leagues.
In the last decade, apart from representing Afghanistan in 96 T20Is, Rashid has plied his trade for various franchises worldwide, including Adelaide Strikers, Gujarat Titans, Lahore Qalandars, Sussex, and Trent Rockets, among many others. His impact in franchise cricket is staggering, making him a sought-after player across leagues.
