Rashid Khan strengthens his leading position in ICC T20I bowling rankings

19-year-old Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has strengthened his leading position in ICC T20I bowling rankings after the superb bowling performances in the recently concluded three-match T20I series against Bangladesh at Dehradun. Also, Afghanistan has remained in the eighth spot of ICC T20I team rankings.

In the recently concluded three-match T20I bilateral series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh at Dehradun, Afghanistan created a history by winning the series with a whitewash (won by 3-0 margin), thanks to Rashid Khan’s brilliant bowling performances in the every matches, who won the Player of the Tournament award too at the end of the series.

After he produced the destructive bowling spells in the first two games of that series with the 3/13 and 4/12 bowling figures, Rashid Khan once again bowled effectively in the last game of the series (1/24) where he defended 9 runs in the last over to secure another memorable victory.

Rashid won the Player of the Match awards in the first two games, while he claimed the ultimate the Player of the Tournament award at the end of the series.

With those performances, Rashid has maintained his top-position on the ICC T20I bowling rankings with the career-high rating points 816.

Also, the Afghan off-spinners Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman gained more points to move up higher rankings in the ICC T20I bowling. Nabi reached his career-best no.8 ranking (jump to 11 spots), while Mujeeb reached the no.51 ranking (jump to 60 spots) in the T20I bowlers’ rankings.

Both the teams have not moved in the ICC T20I team rankings as Afghanistan and Bangladesh have remained at the no.8 and no.10 positions respectively. Afghanistan gained four points as they reached to 91 rating points, while Bangladesh lost five points as the team slipped down to 70 rating points.
