Afghanistan all-rounder Rashid Khan produced a spectacular fielding effort to dismiss India’s Shivam Dube during the third and final T20I in New Delhi on Thursday, September 17. The Afghanistan star covered significant ground before completing a stunning diving catch at long-on. Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran had won the toss and elected to bowl first. The dismissal came on the third delivery of the 16th over, when Azmatullah Omarzai bowled a fuller delivery to Dube.
The Indian all-rounder attempted to flick the ball over the leg side for a maximum, but did not get the required elevation or distance. Rashid, positioned at long-on, immediately reacted and sprinted towards his left before throwing himself into a full-length dive.
The Afghanistan veteran managed to get both hands underneath the ball and held on brilliantly to complete an outstanding catch in the deep. Dube’s dismissal brought an entertaining passage of play to an end, with the Indian batter departing for 14 off 10 balls, including one four and one six.

It was an important breakthrough for Afghanistan, as Dube was beginning to find his rhythm and could have provided India with a strong finish.
Rashid remained heavily involved in Afghanistan’s fielding efforts throughout the third T20I. He also contributed to the dismissals of Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma, taking Samson’s catch before being involved in an excellent run-out to remove Tilak.

Although Rashid had an expensive outing with the ball, finishing with figures of 1/43 from his four overs, his contribution in the field stood out.
Before the third T20I, Rashid also spoke highly of India’s teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The Afghanistan spinner explained that bowlers should avoid overthinking their approach against such an attacking batter.

Rashid Khan said in an interview with Sports Today: “You can’t think much about someone who is that attacking. You can’t go too deep into it. Then what happens is you forget your own skills and don’t think much about it. I feel like you have to keep things simple, hit the right areas consistently, bowl the ball which is the hardest to hit.”
Sooryavanshi had been India’s leading run-scorer in the previous T20I series against Zimbabwe but did not feature in any of the three matches against Afghanistan. Despite India securing the series before the final game, the teenager remained out of the playing XI.
