Rashid Khan Thanks Friends And Family For Supporting Him

Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, who is currently plying his trade for Adelaide Strikers, thanked all his friends and family for supporting him after the demise of his father on December 30 (Sunday), last year. Meanwhile, he decided to play the match for the Strikers against Sydney Thunder the very next day on New Year’s Eve. He finished the game with the figures of 2 for 34 and later revealed that his family from Afghanistan wanted him to continue playing.

The top-ranked T20I spinner has done an excellent job in recent times in the leagues all-over the world. In the 35 T20I matches, he has bagged 64 wickets with the best figures 5 for 3. He has also impressed in the T20 league over the world. Recently, he also surprised everyone with his batting exploits as well. His aggressive batting has come good for his franchise Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League (BBL).

Recently, in a chat, Rashid Khan revealed how his father struggled in raising them back in Afghanistan. He also admitted that his father always loved watching him play.

Talking to reporters, Rashid said, “I lost my Dad, the one who is very close to us and to my family. He really supported us – he struggled a lot while giving up (a lot) with how he (raised) us. He was always watching my games, he didn’t understand cricket a lot but he just was always asking my family how I had done.”

The all-rounder was immensely praised as he decided to continue playing despite the demise of his father. However, it is a tough time for him and it has certainly taken a toll on him. He posted a message on Twitter thanking all his fans, friends, and family for standing beside him in tough times.

Describing his feelings, Khan tweeted, “I lost my father at a very critical time. I always wanted him to see me play @cricketworldcup. He is not with me however the love & support of my family, friends & fans was tremendous.Many thanks for all supporting messages & calls. Plz keep my father in your#IMISSYOuDAD.”
