During the final over of the Afghanistan vs. Bangladesh clash at St. Vincent on June 25, Tuesday, a visibly furious Rashid Khan threw his bat onto the ground in anger. This dramatic moment occurred on the third ball of the over when Rashid lofted the ball high into the air and aimed for a double. However, his batting partner, Karim Janat, declined the second run, leaving the Afghan skipper fuming.

In his frustration, Rashid flung his bat onto the ground. The bat bounced and rolled along the pitch, reaching Janat at the striker’s end. This unexpected turn of events had the entire commentary box, including Ian Smith and Tom Moody, in stitches. Smith, finding the situation particularly amusing, commented that he had never witnessed anything like it before.

Despite this outburst, Rashid capitalized on the remaining balls of the over. He concluded Afghanistan’s innings with a six off the last delivery, bringing their total to 115 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Afghanistan had won the toss and elected to bat first. However, their usually dependable opening pair, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, struggled to gain momentum against Bangladesh’s bowlers. In the initial nine overs, the duo managed to put up 54 runs. After Zadran’s dismissal, Bangladesh tightened their grip on the game.

Gurbaz attempted to accelerate the run rate towards the end of the innings, but the regular fall of wickets hindered their progress. Rishad Hossain was particularly effective, finishing with figures of 3 for 26 from his four overs. Afghanistan’s innings faltered from 84 for 2 to 93 for 5, before Rashid’s late surge helped them reach a competitive score.
