In a thrilling encounter between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Rashid Khan’s acrobatic catch stole the limelight as he dismissed Shai Hope with finesse. Gujarat Titans’ skipper Shubman Gill’s decision to bowl first proved fruitful as Sandeep Warrier wreaked havoc, claiming three crucial wickets within the powerplay.

The early breakthroughs rocked DC’s batting order, with openers Prithvi Shaw and Jake Fraser-McGurk departing after a 35-run partnership. Fraser-McGurk fell victim to Warrier’s delivery, caught brilliantly by Noor Ahmad. Soon after, Warrier’s delivery lured Shaw into a drive, only to be caught by the diving Noor Ahmad.

As Axar Patel and Shai Hope sought to stabilize DC’s innings, Warrier struck again, dismissing Hope with a deceiving delivery. Hope’s ambitious drive found an edge, resulting in a remarkable diving catch by Rashid Khan at backward point. Hope’s departure left DC reeling at 44 for 3, underlining GT’s dominance in the powerplay.

At the time of reporting, DC stood at 51 for 3 in the eighth over, with Axar Patel and captain Rishabh Pant at the crease, striving to revive the innings. Notably, Sandeep Warrier’s stellar performance made him only the second bowler, after Trent Boult, to claim three wickets within the powerplay in IPL 2024.
