The Indians spinners, Ravi Bishnoi and R Ashwin backed the young pacer, Arshdeep Singh, who faced a lot of criticism on social-media. While Bishnoi said that Arshdeep is one of the bravest people he has seen in his life, Ashwin opined that the fans should act sensibly on social media. Earlier this month, the left-armer Arshdeep faced a lot of heat on social media after he dropped a simple looking catch during the Asia Cup 2022 match between India and Pakistan in Dubai.
As per the quotes in India today, Ravi Bishnoi said, “Paaji mere sabse acche dost hai (Paaji is a dear friend). We all know that dropped catches are part and parcel of the game. It can happen with the best. It could well have been the other way round where he was bowling and I happened to drop the catch.”

After dropping the catch, Arshdeep bowled consistent yorkers in the final over when Pakistan needed seven runs to win, although his efforts went in vain. Ravi Bishnoi praised Arshdeep for showing a great amount of mental strength under pressure. He said, “Arshdeep is one of the bravest boys that I know. After that catch, you saw how he came and bowled at the death. It never looked as if he was perturbed. That’s his mental strength.”
On the other hand, R Ashwin took to his YouTube channel to express his displeasure at the trolls against Arshdeep Singh, saying the youngster had the courage to bowl a superb last over of the innings despite the setback of the dropped catch.
R Ashwin explained, “Arshdeep bowled extraordinarily well in the last over against Pakistan in that tight finish. Despite dropping that catch, how well he came back and bowled the last over in that game. What composure! Both against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. So, a big kudos to that boy. He is an outstanding person. He is a cricketer who has a superb work ethic. I am sure this kid will go places. I don’t have any doubts about that.”
He further added, “Yes, anybody in the public eye will get criticism, agreed. We will accept it and move forward. But getting personal is not the greatest of feelings. He (Arshdeep) is representing all of us when he is on the field, right? We are tweeting out of emotion as soon as he drops a catch, scolding him. Let’s admit it’s an expression of our emotions. Abusing someone is completely wrong, guys. Imagine Arshdeep reading those trolls. Imagine the toll it will have on the youngster.”
Ravi Bishnoi also talked about his conversation with leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who has been a crucial cog for the Indian team in limited-overs cricket for quite some time now and he will be expected to do well in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022.

Bishnoi elaborated, “Yuzi Bhai hasn’t told me anything specific (on leg break bowling). He always tells me that every moment that you are on the ground, you should enjoy and as a pair, we should try and bowl well in tandem which is beneficial for the team.”
